As vice president for business development, Spaan will be responsible for identifying, and making initial contact with, prospective new Beck Ag clients. Originally from South Dakota, she received both a Bachelors and Masters of Science degree from South Dakota State. Prior to joining Beck Ag, Spaan exercised her entrepreneurial spirit by launching one business, purchasing and growing a second business, and operating a successful network marketing operation for 15 years. She originated a business measuring body composition (ribeye, backfat and marbling) in live cattle and pigs via ultrasound, to identify highly inheritable traits that are used as predictors of overall meat quality, and to breed and raise consumer preferred animals.
In her new role, Phillips will be responsible for leading all aspects of the AG IQ® business unit including vision, strategy, business development and operations. This unit will assist Beck Ag clients leverage customer intelligence and data driven marketing to efficiently and effectively build customer relationships, predict customer behaviors, increase profits and grow market share. Her previous experience included marketing and product management positions at three of the largest agricultural companies in the U.S.: Monsanto, Syngenta and DuPont Pioneer (DowDupont). An Iowa native, Phillips obtained both an undergraduate degree in agronomy and plant pathology minor, and an MBA in marketing from Iowa State University.
